WIP Daenerys Targaryn Season 6: Update

Since the last time I posted, I have made a few changes to what I am doing for this cosplay.

Cosplay Elements:

– Wig

– Ring on Necklace

– Shirt

– Leather Skirt

– Coin Belt

– Leather Gloves

– Leather pants

– Brown Boots

Below you can see the pictures I have placed in my cosplanner as example pictures.

For the wig I ordered the Wig Is Fashion LF101 during their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale and styled the wig myself. I could do a video later about how exactly I styled the wig, but mostly I just looked at reference pictures and tried to replicate them as best as I could.

I bought a ring from eBay. It had a very long shipping date and I don't expect it until February., so hopefully the CosplaySky belt is good! I never found that tutorial again, so if I ever end up making , I'll be sure to do a tutorial.

I bought the McCall's Costumes M6941 to use as a pattern for the shirt. I cut out the pattern and made a mock up of the shirt. This was mostly just to practice sewing, however I did decided to just buy a costume from CosplaySky. It was fairly inexpensive and will be used as a base for the costume until I can begin updating it. I will still need pants because the ones that came with the costume are not the leather like material she wears. I will eventually update the shirt, but until then I will add the dragon scaleing to this shirt and take it in so that it fits me a little better. The big keepers will be the faux leather skirt and the belt, however I would even like to update the faux leather to real leather one day. The skirt will need to be softened or altered in some way, because currently it is very stiff and large. The gloves are not very good and will need a lot of altering as they are way to big for my hands. I would like to die the wrappings darker to match the ones she wears.

I will need to practice the dragon scale embroidery that Michele Carragher does. She explains how to do it on her website. I've included a picture below with the details of the blue dress. She uses the same detailing on the brown dress.

As I said before, the belt is the same belt from her original dothraki costume. The CosplaySky belt is really good and I don't feel like i will ever feel the need to update it.

As I mentioned before the CosplaySky gloves are not very good. So, I still would like to get leather remnants from Tandy Leather or maybe faux leather strips from a craft store.

I still plan on using brown faux leather or suede leggings for her pants. I have a few saved in my amazon list. I still want to check thrift stores first though. I will update when I have a firmer idea about the pants.

I need to find some boots. My dad and step-mom had purchased a pair for me from Amazon but they didn't come in the right size even though she ordered an 8.5 for me, they sent an 8. I think if i can find a pair of suede looking boots I can get some suede fabric to make the wraps.

That’s my plan for Daenerys! My plan is to get this done by the Game of Thrones premier on April 14th. Do you think there are better options out there for some of these pieces? Have you done a Daenerys cosplay? Tell me what you think in the comments below!
