WIP Daenerys Targaryn Season 6

I am starting to work on Daenerys' season 6 outfit! It took me a really long time to decide which of her outfits I wanted to do because she has so many good outfits. I probably will not really start into this until after the first of the year, but I like to have everything together and planned so that when I am ready to start I wont have too much organizing to do.

Cosplay Elements:

– Wig

– Ring on Necklace

– Shirt

– Leather Skirt

– Coin Belt

– Leather Gloves

– Leather pants

– Brown Boots

For the wig I ordered the Wig Is Fashion LF101 over the weekend during their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale and plan on styling it when it arrives. I follow a cosplayer, @stomacosplay who used this wig and had her friend braid it, so I plan on doing something similar .

I have placed her ring from a few sellers on my Christmas list, and they are cheap enough that I am pretty sure someone will get it for me! Here is one from eBay, another from eBay, and one from Jordans Jewelry

I bought the McCall's Costumes M6941 to use as a pattern for the shirt. I have cut out the pattern and started on making a mock up of the pattern. Since it is the first thing I am attempting to make, I’m also learning a little bit of sewing as I go!

Michele Carragher is an embroider for Game of Thrones and includes a really detailed description on how she does the dragon scale look on her website. I've included a picture below with the details of the blue dress. She uses the same detailing on the brown dress.

For her skirt I may try to get some leather remnants from Tandy Leather to use, but I'm still debating to use real leather or not. I think the better (and more cost efficient) option would be to fake leather.

The belt is the same belt from her original dothraki costume. I have only found one belt online from Etsy, but I'm not sure if I want to try to make it, or buy it quite yet. I saw a tutorial, but failed to save it, however it was pretty simple. If I end up making it, I'll be sure to do a tutorial.

For her gloves, I plan on getting leather remnants from Tandy Leather or maybe faux leather strips from a craft store.

I plan on using brown faux leather or suede leggings for her pants. I have a few saved in my amazon list. I want to check the thrift stores first though. I will update when I have a firmer idea about the pants.

I found some boots on amazon that are for her blue outfit, but look like the same boots she wears with her brown outfit.

Another option I considered was the costume from CosplaySky. It’s fairly inexpensive and could be a base for the costume. I would still need pants due to the ones that come with the costume being cotton or spandex. I would eventually like to update the shirt and would have to add the dragon scale to it. The big keepers would be the faux leather skirt and the belt.

That’s my plan for Daenerys! Although I’m starting on it now, it’s not something I plan on getting done at any specific time. Do you think there are better options out there for some of these pieces? Have you done a Daenerys cosplay? Tell me what you think in the comments below!
