Updating Rey

I was Rey from the end of The Force Awakens for Halloween in 2017. I ordered my costume from what was JediOutfitters on Etsy but is now EpicEnsemble. The whole costume comes with the vest, the belt (including the leg piece), arm covers, gray gauze sleeves, and white shirt. But I was a struggling college student so I only asked for the vest, the arm covers, and the gauze sleeves. I fault myself for not really paying attention to what the material was, or looking at it a little more closely, but the vest was made of felt. It is still well made and looked really great, I just wish I knew what I know now! The arm covers and the gauze were way too short for my arms and wouldn't ever stay up.
I plan on updating all three of those pieces as well as the belt, which I already had, and the the shirt, which I didn't have. I may also add a wig, now that my hair is much blonder.
I already purchased the gauze wraps from amazon, I just need to die/weather them. I got enough to do two pair (Resistance and Training Rey) and bought the pearl grey RIT dye and plan on weathering the other pair with coffee.
I have draped her shirt on my fancy new dress form. I need to finish the mock up and draft the pattern from it in order to make it from the Stretch Pique Knit Fabric I found on Etsy.
Next, I will draft the vest and the gauntlet pattern. I plan on using this Grey Herringbone Flannel Fabric from Etsy. While I would like to use wool, I couldn't find it in the right color that was awfully expensive.
The next piece I want to update is the belt, blaster holster, and lightsaber holster. I will draft the belt form this pattern which I found on EmeraldB's belt tutorial. I might go to Tandy or another leather store to get some leather to make the belt from real leather. I will use EmeraldB's tutorial for Reys blaster holster.
Lastly, I am planning on building Rey's staff! I bought the 3D printed pieces from CoolBearCostumes and a dowel rod from Home Depot. I will do a tutorial when I get everything to do it!
Those are the updates I’m planning. I also need to do something for shoes, but I haven’t decided yet!
Until next time!
