So when I began cosplaying I knew I wanted make a cosplanner like I've seen other cosplayers reference to or show, but I couldn't find a good option. So, today I’m going to walk you through my cosplanner that I built so that maybe you can build one similar if your'e having trouble finding a format you like!
A cosplanner is a cosplay planner. You use your cosplanner to plan out your cosplays by showing reference images and listing out elements of the cosplay you’ll need to make it buy. You can also add in a time and budget section for every cosplay to if you want.
My first cosplanner was the website Cosplanner. I don’t have any issue with the this planner, I just wanted another format and the option to have it with me always. Unfortunately, you have to pay to use both the website and the mobile app. Had I known that I would have created plans on the app first, but I did it on my laptop and so was unable to look at my cosplay plans from the app.
Then I created a simple cosplanner in my Hufflepuff journal. I still use this journal as a cosplanner, it’s just not as detailed and thought out as my main cosplanner.
I looked around the internet for downloadable cosplanner pages, but really wasn’t having any luck finding any that I liked. I got my bachelors in Strategic Communication (which is just a fancy word for advertising and public relations smushed into one degree) and I’m studying for my masters in advertising. I‘m a fairly good graphic designer because of my schooling and so I decided that I would just make my own cosplanner.
First I came up with the format I wanted my cosplanner to be in. I wanted a two page layout with reference pages on the left hand side and cosplay elements on the right hand side.
Then I came up with the second section, which is my photo shoot planning pages. It is also a two page layout so that I can place reference pictures for the shoot in my planner.
The last section of my cosplanner is my con plans. I use this to keep track of how many cons I went to or plan to go to, their dates, location, and pricing.

I already had the front page and the section pages, but I designed them as I liked, simple and sweet. This is when I decided on a color palette for my planner. I don’t really have any reason behind it except it was the first one that came up on a palette website that I liked.
When I add a new cosplay plan in my planner I save it as a PDF and air drop it to my phone so that I can have it with me when I’m shopping for cosplay items.
What do you think of my cosplanner? Do you prefer apps or downloadable versions? Would you be interested in downloading my version? Let me know in the comments below!
